Over 140 adults and 13 children now benefit from using the Direct Payments Scheme.

Adult Direct Payments

What can Direct Payments be used for?

:: To employ a support worker or contract with an agency to provide the assistance needed and identified during an assessment

:: They can also be used as an alternative to other services, such as respite and day care or to purchase equipment

How to get Direct Payments:

You will need to have a Community Care Assessment by a Social Worker who will tell you if you are eligible to receive a service

If so, you will be offered Direct Payments to organise your own care.

If you already receive a service but would like to change to Direct Payments – contact your Social Worker.

Direct Payments for Children

What are Direct Payments for children?

:: A person with parental responsibility for a child with disabilities is given money to pay for services instead of Peterborough City Council making arrangements on their behalf.

:: Direct Payments are for carers and parents of children with physical disabilities or have a significant learning difficulty.

:: Young people of 16 and 17 with disabilities can also opt for Direct Payments.

How to get Direct Payments:

:: For an informal discussion please contact the Children with Disabilities Team. Your child’s needs will be assessed by a Social Worker to see if they are eligible to receive a service.

:: If you already receive a service but would like to change to Direct Payments – speak to your Social Worker about the scheme.
