Peterborough Infrastructure Group is a Consortium of voluntary groups in Peterborough.
From 1st April 2008 the Peterborough Infrastructure Group has been awarded independent status from the Cambridgeshire Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Consortium. Capacity Builders recognised the benefits of reconfiguring the geographical boundaries in the Cambridgeshire to reflect Peterborough’s Unitary status and the fact we have separate Compact Agreements, LAA’s etc.
Initially, Peterborough Infrastructure Group was set up as a direct result of work within Cambridgeshire on Voluntary Sector Infrastructure needs.
Partnership work between the Voluntary & Community Sector and Statutory bodies is vital. Knowing who to engage with or how to get heard is a problem. The Infrastructure Group will help to solve this issue.
Funding for the group has been provided by Capacity Builders until March 2009. PCVS have been asked by the members to be the accountable body for this fund. Part of the fund has enabled us to employ Gillian Flack to provide administration support for this work. Gillian can be contact at gillian.flack@pcvs.co.uk or telephone 01733 342683

Peterborough Infrastructure Group Membership
The main purpose of the new group is to:
Provide representation on behalf of the Voluntary Sector
Develop a local voluntary sector strategy
Provide a recognised point of contact for statutory bodies wishing to engage with the voluntary sector
Increase the capacity of local organisations through Infrastructure
On 23rd January we held a conference “Delivering Growth – your role in Peterborough’s Future”. This was an excellent opportunity to show partnership work between Peterborough Infrastructure Group Peterborough City Council and the Greater Peterborough Partnership.
Guest speakers included Pat Samuel, Office of the Third Sector, Richard Weller, Capacity Builders and Nick Drew, Commission for the Compact. After lunch John Place from GO-East and Richard Astle from Greater Peterborough Partnership presented some information on the Local Area Agreements followed by a number of workshops which enabled delegates to talk about how they feel their organisation could help with Peterborough’s future growth plans.

During 2007 the Peterborough Infrastructure Group members researched the needs of specialist and generic areas of the Voluntary and Community Sector in Peterborough. The findings of this work were produced in a report Peterborough Voluntary and Community Sector Report, which was launched in January 2008. The recommendations for change and development will be used in future capacity building and infrastructure work for our sector.
