Peterborough Shopmobility is very easy to use, follow these five steps.

 

1. Book your vehicle

Booking is not essential, but is recommended – especially if you would like to borrow a scooter. Please call our office on 01733 313133, during the opening hours. If you would like a particular type of vehicle – please let us know. All bookings are held for one hour after the time of your booking – therefore, to avoid disappointment, please le us know if you are going to be late.

 

2. Get to the Office

There are disabled parking bays close to Peterborough Shopmobility on level eleven of Royce Car Park, Queensgate shopping centre, if you are not sure how to get there, please give us a call and we will be able to direct you in.

 

3. Do the Paperwork

If you are not a member of our scheme, you will need to complete a membership form, which is free of charge. You will also need to confirm your details by showing two forms of identification, showing your name and address, this could be a driver’s license, current bill, medical card, prescription card, passport or household utility bill. As this is a stipulation of our insurance cover, without such identification we would be unable to issue you with a vehicle. You will then be given a unique membership number and issued with a membership card; membership has to be renewed each year. See: conditions for equipment hire

 

4. Learn the Controls

If you have not used a particular vehicle before, or even if you have your own equipment, we will make sure that are given familiarisation instruction, and then if we are satisfied that you are confident and capable of using the equipment loaned to you, we will make you a member. If we feel you are not confident to use a powered mobility scooter, there is always the option of a self propelled wheelchair.

 

5. Away you go

Once everything has been completed and you are comfortable with the vehicle, then we will let you head off to explore the City Centre. - Happy shopping.
