Our aim is to provide a service that will make an important and lasting difference to people’s quality of life.
Important Information:
Peterborough Shopmobility is a scheme to provide electrically powered and hand propelled wheelchairs and scooters to help people who have limited mobility – through disablement, illness, accident or age – to shop and use other facilities in both Queensgate Shopping Centre and Peterborough City Centre. Our aim is to provide a service that will make an important and lasting difference to people’s quality of life.
Peterborough Shopmobility Project is grant funded from Norwich Union and Peterborough City Council. Shopmobility is also very reliant on donations and trust funds.
The booking office is located on the 11th floor of the Queensgate Centre car parks, between the Royce and Clare car parks. The Queensgate Shopmobility Office can be reached via the lifts and parking areas. From the Shopmobility office there is easy access to all Queensgate stores and the largely pedestrianised centre of Peterborough.
If you are arriving by bus, car or taxi there is clearly marked signposting from Queensgate entrances to Shopmobility. It is advisable to contact the scheme to arrange a wheelchair to meet you on your arrival.

Peterborough Shopmobility have a range of wheelchairs and scooters for hire including electric scooters and standard wheelchairs (with optional leg-rest extension, and large or small wheels).
Shopmobility Peterborough are able to hire out a number of wheelchairs (and leg rests) for £2 per night. If you are going on holiday, or perhaps you've broken a leg and require a wheelchair with leg rest for a few weeks then pop in and see us!
Wheelchair cushions and bags unfortunately can not be loaned out on long term hire as we do not have enough and our priority is to the users of Queensgate and the City Centre.
You'll need two forms of identity with your name and address on, and to fill out a form.
If you are planning a holiday, or a trip away from Peterborough then you might want to know about shopmobility schemes around the country. The Shopmobility Directory offers just the information you require. To visit the directory click here.
