Case Study - eMploY-ABILITY

Back To Projects & Case Studies

Our wonderful participant joined the project through our delivery partner, The Ferry Project. He was homeless and had been unemployed for 4 years. His self-esteem was low and he felt isolated.  Wanting to change his circumstances, he attended one to one sessions with our Key Worker and together they identified areas of support that would be relevant for him.  During the 7 months on the project, he attended the Job Club, the WEX programme (Work Experience), a wellbeing course through Click Therapy, a budgeting course and volunteered with the Ferry Project on their maintenance team.

“The biggest thing has been knowing the support is there and the interaction, it took a weight off my shoulders”

The volunteering gave our participant a sense of purpose and motivation which improved his mental health and raised his confidence so much that he organised and ran an activity for the other residents of the hostel, having a positive impact on their health.

Feeling confident and motivated, he decided he wanted to run his own business and we are very pleased that he exited the project attending a customer service course and a business administration course with hope for reaching his goal in the future.
