About Us:

The African Parent addresses the gap in parenting support for first-generation African families in the UK. Many existing parenting resources don’t account for the specific challenges diaspora parents face, like maintaining cultural identity, navigating unfamiliar school systems, and managing intergenerational expectations while raising children in a different cultural context.

Founded by Anne-Rose, who combines professional expertise in organisational change with lived experience as a first-generation parent. The platform grew from recognising that African diaspora parents often lack community support and culturally grounded resources when facing parenting decisions.

We work through content creation, community building, and practical tools that help parents handle real situations without abandoning their cultural values or heritage. The focus is actionable guidance rather than abstract advice.
